You are the soul, the being and you have a body. The body is like the house for the soul to live in when you are reincarnated here on earth. Not a house made of stone and steel, but a house made of a living organism. And as anything that is alive, this organism has a spirituality on it’s own. It has feelings, ideas, survival patterns, emotions, it gets sad and feels happy, and it has incredible amount of knowledge on how to run this complex organism.
The human body consists of approximately 30 trillion cells, with around 80 organs working together. It contains some 100,000 kilometres of blood vessels. Over a lifespan of 75 years, the heart beats roughly 3 billion times and pumps around 200 million litres of blood. We take approximately 600 million breaths, while our lungs provide a gas-exchange surface of about 50–75 square metres. And the brain alone contains around 86 billion nerve cells, connected through roughly 100 trillion synapses.
We tend to use this incredible high precision organism rather carelessly, not realizing how much this entity called “body” is working, coordinating, adjusting and fixing every second of our life. We tend to concentrate on the things we do not like much about the body “too fat”, “too small”, “hair not straight enough”, “hair not curled enough”, “always tired”, etc.
The bodies purpose – aside from surviving – the purpose in a spiritual sense – is to provide this home for us so we can manifest and act in the physical world as we want. And it is – nearly like a Golden Retriever – always trying to please us and do whatever we want and fulfill all the many demands we have.
So, getting in better spiritual communication with this fantastic organism is very helpful. And appreciating it’s existence and it’s job makes it feel so much better than constant nagging about this or that. And the reward for better communication on a spiritual level is always better cooperation between you and the body.
So how do you start?
When you do this the first time, it is best to lay down in a relaxed position or sit in your favorite chair. If you tend to fall asleep when you relax, see our tips in How Do You Find Meditation?
- Put your attention on your right foot – try to go “inside” with your attention, feeling the blood streaming and tickling, feeling the warmth, the bone structure.
- Then proceed up the leg to the knee, always feeling and connecting to the inside. – Go on to the hip.
- Then start out with the left foot and do the same.
- Then take right hand, arm, left hand, arm and finally your torso and your head, so that you are connected to all the parts of your body and have them within your awareness.
- Feel the calmness, feel your heartbeat, remain for this for a moment and then give you body the biggest “thank you” you can think of. Think of all the miles your feet have been carrying you, all the meals that were digested, all the actions you do all day long with this body and thank it for performing reliably and so well. Let this flow of gratitude stream all through your body. – You will get a response of warmth and happiness, feeling calm and well.
- Do this often, and so lay the foundation for a better cooperation between the spiritual side of the body and you.
